Making the most out of your alphabets 

We have all been there...you are picking out your letters for a title,  you have found the right colour and shape letters in your own supplies but you are one letter short ! So before you shout "bugger one letter short" Let me show you with a bit of creativity and luck how to help you solve this scrapping dilemma.

  1. Use an upside down V and any other straight piece (eg Z or X) and cut and add bar across to form and A
  2. Use an R by trimming it a little and using a part of another letter (try a lower case letter) to form the curve at the bottom of the B
  3. You can use and of the following and a pair of scissors to form a C....O, G, Q, 0, 6 or a backwards D
  4. Use a C, O, G, or Q and add a straight piece from another letter you have not used
  5. Use an F and add a piece from another letter to add the missing piece of the E or you could use and L and add 2 straight pieces to form the E
  6. Trim off a piece from an E, B, O or R
  7. Add a straight piece to a C
  8. Use 2 I's and a spare piece across the middle or try 2 1's
  9. Trim a J, H, E, F, K, L, M, N, P, R or T to size
  10. Cut an I and add spare piece  from a Q to form the J
  11. Trim off a parts of an R and spare pieces to form the K or and I with a lower case v
  12. Trim of parts of and E or T
  13. Use an upside down W
  14. Try a Z upside down
  15. Trim a Q or 0
  16. Trim off an R or B
  17. Add a piece to an O or 0
  18. Use a P and cut a piece from another letter to form the missing part of the R
  19. Carefully trim a 8 or &
  20. Add a piece to I, L or 1
  21. Trim off part of a O,Q or 0
  22. Use part of a W, A or X
  23. Use two V's or an upside down M

To hide joins you could try adding flowers, jelly tiles etc near or over the join

Some lower case substitutions -

b - Turn a q upside down

d - Turn a p upside down

 h - Use a l or 1 and an n

 l -  Use a number 1

n - Turn a u upside down

p - Turn an d upside down

r - Trim an n, m or u
